Just one onion and some speck will liven up your plain sprouts. Even if you are not a fun of these small green cabbages it's worth to give them a chance. And you will love them!
Ingrediens
500 gr Brussels sprouts
50 gr butter
1 red onion
100 gr speck (or bacon)
salt, pepper
Preparation
1. Prepare the Brussels sprouts: trim the base off, remove the leaves that are thick and tough or damaged. If you prefer, cut them in half. Wash them in cold water.
2. Thinly slice the onion and the speck.
3. In a pan, melt the butter and add the onion and the speck. Gently fry until soft. Pour in the sprouts, add two tablespoons of water and season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 10 minutes or until the sprouts are cooked but still crispy.
4. Before serving, if you like to, add some chopped walnuts.
